Share Archaeologists then claimed it contained ossuaries inscribed with names associated with Jesus’s family. That discovery sprouted amazing theories including one that maintained Jesus had been buried there alongside Mary Magdalene who he had married and raised a family with. However many leading theologians and archaeologists rubbished such claims as being completely unfounded. The Jesus Family Tomb was only examined briefly before protests by Orthodox Jews, concerned about the disturbance of a grave site, ended the excavation. It was then sealed up, and a tower block built over it. However James Tabor, a scriptural scholar at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and documentary filmmaker Simcha Jacobovici were determined to continue the research. The pair obtained permission from the Israeli government in to use the robotic arm to drill holes allowing them to explore the surrounding area. This led to the discovery of a separate chamber which they named the ‘Patio Tomb’, as it sits almost directly below the patio of the building. It was inside the Patio Tomb that they found the inscriptions. The pair claim the inscriptions discovered inside the patio tomb greatly increase the likelihood that the ‘Jesus Family Tomb’ is indeed, the resting place of Jesus.

Specifically, in regards to dealing with loss, or your own or those around you suffering….. Comparison is the thief of joy. BUT the truth is that because God is perfect and loving, whenever He withholds something from us— He always has something better than what we could think, ask, or imagine — Ephesians 3: He is perfect in all of His ways, and His ways are higher than our ways. May we rest in His sovereignty!

Was Jesus a Real Person? By Natalie Wolchover April 14, Toby Hudson Jesus Christ may be the most famous man who ever lived. But how do we know he did? Most theological historians, Christian and non-Christian alike, believe that Jesus really did walk the Earth. They draw that conclusion from textual evidence in the Bible , however, rather than from the odd assortment of relics parading as physical evidence in churches all over Europe.
That’s because, from fragments of text written on bits of parchment to overly abundant chips of wood allegedly salvaged from his crucifix, none of the physical evidence of Jesus’ life and death hold up to scientific scrutiny. He presents circumstantial evidence that seems to suggest the rusty relics once nailed Jesus to the cross. The tomb in which the nails were found is believed by some to be that of the Jewish high priest Caiaphas, who presides over the trial of Jesus in the New Testament.
It turns out publicity stunts abound when it comes to holy hardware. In , English liturgical scholar Herbert Thurston counted all the nails that were at that time believed to have been used to crucify Jesus. Though only three or four nails the exact number is up for debate were supposed to have pinned Christ to the cross circa A.

It appears to be the product of John Whitmer the Prophet Joseph Smith’s scribe and was not intended to reveal the birthdate of our Lord, but merely a manner of recording the date of the organization of the Church. The article was written by Jeffrey R. Chadwick and entitled, Dating the Birth of Jesus Christ. Because of this discovery, we as Latter’day Saints are back to the possibility of the birth of the Savior being in December.
The following article was printed in the Deseret News: MST Since the early 20th century, many Mormons have thought they knew the exact date of the first Christmas.

Also, I discovered Game Of Thrones and, well, let’s just say that finding lifelong companionship does not in terms of interest compare to the doings in Westeros. The hell with love. You killed Eddard Stark, you bastards! Hell, if your name is Stark on that show, you’re probably toast.

The first appearances of the ichthys symbol in Christian art and literature date to the 2nd century AD. The symbol’s use among Christians had become popular by the late 2nd century, and its use spread widely in the 3rd and 4th centuries. For example, Orpheus was described as a “fisher of men” as early as the 3rd or fourth century BC. The fish was sacred to the goddess Atargatis , for example, who was said to cause tumors in those who ate them.
Fish were only allowed to be eaten by priests during rituals devoted to Atargatis, in the belief that they represented her body. This suggestion is obviously spurious, resulting from Augustine’s ignorance of Greek. A fourth century A. Several of Jesus ‘ twelve Apostles were fishermen. He commissions them with the words ” I will make you fishers of men “. The question is asked, “But what are they, among so many? Christ tells Peter to go to the water and cast a line, saying that a coin sufficient for both of them will be found in the fish’s mouth.
Peter does this and finds the coin. According to one ancient story, when a Christian met a stranger in the road, the Christian sometimes drew one arc of the simple fish outline in the dirt. If the stranger drew the other arc, both believers knew they were in good company.

Buy But as Avshalom-Gorni stood at the edge of the pit, studying the arrangement of benches along the walls, she could no longer deny it: Though big enough for just people, it was, for its time and place, opulent. It had a mosaic floor; frescoes in pleasing geometries of red, yellow and blue; separate chambers for public Torah readings, private study and storage of the scrolls; a bowl outside for the ritual washing of hands. In the center of the sanctuary, the archaeologists unearthed a mysterious stone block, the size of a toy chest, unlike anything anyone had seen before.
Carved onto its faces were a seven-branched menorah, a chariot of fire and a hoard of symbols associated with the most hallowed precincts of the Jerusalem temple. The stone is already seen as one of the most important discoveries in biblical archaeology in decades. Though its imagery and function remain in the earliest stages of analysis, scholars say it could lead to new understandings of the forces that made Galilee such fertile ground for a Jewish carpenter with a world-changing message.
It could help explain, in other words, how a backwater of northern Israel became the launching pad for Christianity.

For some time I have been noticing something not quite right with what I have been hearing being spewed from pulpits and in single ministries all over the place. At a fundamental level these statements are true. However, I am beginning to wonder if those statements are actually telling the whole truth about how God sees the single person. In the opening chapters of Genesis God makes a profound statement that I think many religious relationship advice-givers seem to skim over:
My uncle is almost 50 and currently dating a woman in her early 30s who wants to get married, have kids, and settle down. My uncle has two children, one a full on married adult and the other a pain-in-the-ass teenager, and had a pretty nasty divorce.
